Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Portfolio of Evidence: Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence, which demonstrates their ability to assess occupational competence. This portfolio includes:

• Observation of performance in the workplace.
• Use of witness testimony.
• Product-based evidence from learners' work.
• Questioning and professional discussions with learners.

• Learners must be at least 19 years old.
• It is recommended that learners have experience in their sector and a qualification at Level 2 or above, although this is not mandatory.

• Aspiring Assessors: Individuals who wish to assess learners’ competence in a workplace setting and want to gain a recognized qualification to become a certified assessor.
• Vocational Trainers and Coaches: Professionals who support apprenticeships, vocational training programs, and workplace learning and need to assess occupational performance.
• Organizations: Employers looking to certify staff to conduct in-house assessments of their workforce’s competencies.

Upon completion of this course, learners can:

• Work as an Assessor: You will be qualified to assess the occupational competence of employees and learners in your chosen industry.
• Progress to higher-level qualifications such as the Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (IQA).
• Gain employment in roles such as Workplace Assessor, Apprenticeship Assessor, or Vocational Trainer.

The course involves 90 hours of total qualification time (TQT), including 54 guided learning hours (GLH). The exact duration can vary depending on the learner’s pace but is typically completed within 3 to 6 months.
