The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Training is designed for individuals who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies in the workplace. This one-day course is ideal for employees designated as first aiders or anyone looking to be equipped to handle medical emergencies in a work environment. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a qualification recognized under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, which is valid for three years.
This course teaches the essential first aid techniques to help stabilize casualties in critical situations until professional medical help arrives.
Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work Training
Module 1: Roles and Responsibilities of a First Aider:
- Understand the role of a first aider, including how to assess an incident and ensure personal and bystander safety.
- Learn how to minimize the risk of infection during first aid procedures.
Module 2: Assessing an Incident:
- Learn how to assess a casualty, including conducting a primary and secondary survey.
- Gain the skills to prioritize treatment in different emergency scenarios.
Module 3: Managing Unresponsive Casualties:
- Learn how to place a casualty in the recovery position.
- Practice Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and understand the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Module 4: Dealing with Minor Injuries:
- Learn how to treat minor injuries such as cuts, grazes, and bruises.
- Gain practical skills in applying dressings and bandages.
Module 5: Handling Medical Emergencies:
- Understand how to respond to severe medical conditions such as seizures, choking, and shock.
- Learn how to administer first aid for specific conditions like asthma, allergies (anaphylaxis), and diabetic emergencies.
