Level 3 First Aid at Work

Module 1: Understanding the Role of a First Aider:

• Learn the responsibilities of a first aider, including communication skills, maintaining a safe environment, and managing the situation effectively.

Module 2: Assessing an Incident:

• Learn how to assess the scene of an emergency, check for dangers, and determine the appropriate response.

Module 3: Providing First Aid for a Casualty who is Unresponsive and not Breathing Normally:

• Learn how to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) effectively.
• Understand how to handle casualties who are unresponsive but breathing, including placing them in the recovery position.

Module 4: Administering First Aid to a Casualty who is Choking:

• Recognize the signs of choking and understand how to provide first aid for a choking casualty using the Heimlich maneuver and other techniques.

Module 5: Dealing with Wounds, Bleeding, and Shock:

• Learn how to manage and treat wounds and bleeding, from minor cuts to severe injuries, including using bandages and dressings.
• Understand how to recognize and treat shock in casualties.

Module 6: Administering First Aid for Burns and Scalds:

• Learn how to provide treatment for burns and scalds, including the application of appropriate first aid measures to prevent further damage.

Module 7: Managing Fractures, Sprains, and Strains:

• Gain knowledge on how to immobilize fractures, provide first aid for sprains and strains, and manage musculoskeletal injuries.

Module 8: Recognizing and Providing First Aid for Common Illnesses:

• Learn to identify signs and symptoms of common illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, asthma, and seizures, and provide appropriate first aid.

• Practical Assessments: Learners will be observed demonstrating their first aid skills in simulated scenarios, including CPR, treating wounds, and managing fractures.
• Multiple-Choice Examination: Learners will complete a written exam to test their theoretical knowledge of first aid principles and practices.

• Learners must be at least 16 years old.
• No prior first aid experience is required, but a basic understanding of English is recommended to comprehend the course materials and assessments.
