Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment

Module 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment:

• Learn the core concepts of internal quality assurance (IQA), including the functions, principles, and key responsibilities.
• Understand the roles of practitioners involved in both internal and external quality assurance, as well as the regulations governing these processes.

Module 2: Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment:

• Gain practical experience in planning, managing, and evaluating the quality of assessments.
• Learn how to monitor assessors' performance, standardize assessment practices, and provide feedback to assessors to maintain and improve assessment quality.

• Portfolio of Evidence: Learners are required to compile a portfolio that demonstrates their competence in carrying out internal quality assurance activities. This portfolio includes evidence such as observation records, feedback sessions, and reports on assessment standardization.
• Practical Demonstrations: Learners will be observed while conducting internal quality assurance activities in real work environments, such as monitoring assessors and ensuring assessment decisions meet the required standards.

• Learners must be at least 19 years of age.
• It is recommended (but not required) that learners hold a Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, or equivalent.

• Assessors: Those looking to move into a quality assurance role and take responsibility for ensuring high standards in assessment practices.
• IQA Practitioners: Individuals who are currently conducting internal quality assurance and want to formalize their qualifications and advance in their careers.
• Organizations: Businesses or educational institutions seeking to certify staff for internal quality assurance roles.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can:

• Work as an Internal Quality Assurer within an organization or assessment center.
• Progress to more advanced qualifications such as the Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (RQF).

The qualification includes 90 guided learning hours (GLH) and a total of 120 hours of qualification time (TQT). Learners typically complete the course in 3 to 6 months, depending on their learning pace and professional experience.
